I have a ’94 E320 Cabriolet, originally delivered to Switzerland that has infrared remote locking. The E320 cabriolets in the US never delivered with this option. My question is what control module fits this car? Presently it has a regular 124 820 59 26 module, but I suspect this is not the original, as there is no reference to this specific module being for an infrared system. I believe that possibly sometime since the car has been in the US, that the original infrared module went bad and someone replaced it with what was easily found at the time; i.e. the standard 124 820 59 26 module now in the car.
Can anyone tell me exactly which module the factory used on this A124?
Someone suggested the modules from the same era R129s; module 129 820 06 26 was used, but no one’s been able to confirm this. Even my dealer contacts can’t offer any help even with the VIN. At least on the MBNA network.
Any help with the correct module would be deeply appreciated!
